Senior Product Designer (Product Builder)

About MESH

MESH is a venture firm focused on frontier electronics technology. Through our syndicates, we invest $10–60M per deal in growth- to late-stage U.S. companies, with a portfolio that includes CesiumAstro, Tenstorrent, Anello, Venus Aerospace, Quantinuum, and other category-defining technology businesses.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer (Product Builder) who can turn product opportunities into working, shipped experiences — from user problem → discovery → design → build → validation → production.

This is not a traditional UI/UX role focused mainly on Figma deliverables.

The scope of the role is frontend, and you own it end to end. Using AI coding tools, you design, build, debug and ship your own work, and for most frontend tasks what you produce goes to production.

What You'll Own

Product Discovery, Data & Strategy

  • Interview internal and external users to understand workflows, pain points, and unmet needs.
  • Observe how people work today, including manual processes, workarounds, and existing tools.
  • Analyze platform usage data to understand how users actually engage with the product.
  • Distinguish between requested features and the underlying problems users are trying to solve.
  • Turn research and usage data into product opportunities, design hypotheses, and recommendations.
  • Partner with business stakeholders on objectives, constraints, and priorities.

Final business priorities and roadmap decisions remain with the relevant Product or Business Owner, but this role is expected to actively influence those decisions.

End-to-End UX/UI Design

Own the product experience, including:

  • User journeys and workflows
  • Information architecture
  • Wireframes
  • Interaction design
  • High-fidelity UI
  • Responsive design
  • Design systems and reusable components
  • Usability and accessibility
  • Edge cases and error states

AI-Assisted Building & Debugging

  • Build features to production standard using AI-native development tools.
  • Debug what you build: read errors, trace behavior, and fix issues yourself.
  • Put working software in front of users, watch what happens, and iterate.

Working with Engineering

Bring Engineering in when a task needs backend work, changes architecture, touches security or data integrity, or is complex enough that frontend judgment alone won't settle it.

Engineering reviews what goes to production and owns the backend, infrastructure, and deployment.

Marketing & PR Design Support

Occasionally support visual design for marketing and PR — presentation materials, launch assets, and other brand-adjacent needs. Not a core part of the role.

What We're Looking For

Core Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in Product Design, UX/UI Design, or a closely related role.
  • Strong portfolio showing ownership of end-to-end digital product experiences, not just visual design.
  • Strong visual design judgment and ability to adapt design work for product, marketing, and PR contexts.
  • Ability to work from incomplete requirements.
  • Experience conducting user interviews, usability tests, or other product discovery activities.
  • Ability to analyze product usage data and translate insights into product decisions.
  • Experience building and debugging frontend work with AI coding tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks and component libraries.
  • Professional English communication skills.
